How to Make a Breaking News Interface with Scrolling Text and Blinking Effects

Introduction

This could be useful for your flash games, applications etc. Just some view steps and we are done.

Ok let’s start!!!

Step 1

Create a new flash document and set the document properties as follows:

Document Height-400

Width-500

Background colour-black (#000000)

Then rename the current layer to background.

Now save this image below and import it unto your stage.

Select it and give it the following properties.

Height-400

Width-500

x-0

y-0

Step 2

Take the rectangle tool ® and disable the stroke color, select the fill colour - #000033. and draw a rectangle on the stage (don’t worry about the size) after drawing your rectangle select it and give it the following properties.

Width-549.7

Height-39.1

X-0.1

Y-361.1

Lock the current layer and insert a new layer on top of the layer 1

Step 3

Rename that layer to “text”

Now draw a stroke less rectangle with this (#CC0000) as the fill colour, then use the selection tool (V) to curve the right side of it as shown in the screenshot below.

Select it and convert it to a movie clip. Then select it and on the property bar choose filter, then click on the plus (+) icon and select Gradient Bevel.

Input these values inside the box.

Take the text tool and select static text, fill colour-#FF9900, font-Trebuchet MS, font size-23, with a Bold character.

And type “Breaking News!!!” inside the rectangle. See the screenshot below.

Click on the “breaking news” and convert it to a movie clip symbol. After converting it to a movie clip symbol double click on it and on frame 5 press f6 then go back to the stage and delete the “breaking news” from the stage.

Step 4

Now take the text tool again but this time give it the following properties.

Click on the stage and type in any text that is up to 300 characters as for mine I used.

Just anything!!

After you have finished typing it make sure it is in one straight line. Like shown in the image below

Select all the text and convert it to a movie clip symbol. After doing this. Duplicate it by press Ctrl D and place the duplicate on the right and side of the original one.

Step 5

Now select the original and the duplicate.

Covert them into a movie clip.

After converting them into a movie clip. Double click to go inside the editing mode of the movie clip.

Once again, Press Ctrl + A and convert them to a movie clip again.

Step 6

Here is were the main obsession goes.

Click on frame 180 of the movie clip layer and press F6 on your keyboard to insert a new keyframe on frame 180.

While frame 180 is still selected, on the property bar Tween – choose motion.

Then click once on the movie on the stage. On the property bar of the movie clip enter -1810.8 for the x axis. And -8.3 for the y axis.

Right click on frame 100 and select Create Motion Tween.

Now test your movie!!!.
